Social scientist, research methodologist, and advocate for evidence-based AI evaluation
Why I started this
As a social scientist who teaches research methods to graduate students, I’ve spent my career emphasizing a fundamental principle that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
When AI productivity tools exploded onto the scene, I watched colleagues and students struggle with a flood of contradictory advice. Some voices proclaimed AI would revolutionize everything. Others warned it would destroy academic integrity. Most reviews were superficial, affiliate-driven, or both.
What was missing is a rigorous, systematic evaluation using the same standards we apply to research.
So I started testing AI tools the way I’d evaluate any research claim by using controlled experiments, baseline measurements, transparent methodology, and honest reporting of limitations. This site is the result.

Personal note
I’m not anti-AI. I use AI tools daily in my own work. I’ve seen firsthand how they can enhance productivity, improve analysis, and free up time for higher-level thinking.
But I’m also not a techno-optimist who believes AI will solve everything. I’ve seen tools fail spectacularly. I’ve encountered hallucinations, bias, and privacy concerns. I’ve watched colleagues face professional consequences for using AI inappropriately.
My goal is simple, and it is to help you make informed decisions about AI tools based on evidence. Help you use AI responsibly and effectively. Help you avoid the mistakes I and others have made.
If you’re a researcher, educator, consultant, analyst, or any professional who can’t afford to get it wrong, this site is for you.
